Clearsense Selects Splice Machine to Power Its Healthcare Data Ecosystem and Clinical Analytical Applications Platform
July 11, 2017
SAN FRANCISCO, July 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Splice Machine, provider of the leading hybrid RDBMS, today announced that it has been chosen by Clearsense®, a smart data solution for healthcare organizations, to power its healthcare data analytics platform, Inception™. Splice Machine’s ability to process mixed transactional and analytical workloads, and support full ANSI SQL and traditional relational database functionality on a elastic scale-out cloud gives Clearsense customers a familiar platform, reducing the complexity of building applications and performing analytics.
“The integration of Splice Machine into the architecture of Inception allows us to provide both a seamless onboarding process and more valuable experience for our customers,” said Charles Boicey, Chief Innovation Officer at Clearsense. “We can get customers up and running faster, and empower them to quickly realize value from their healthcare data. Splice Machine’s SQL-compliant RDBMS and intuitive authoring tools will allow our customers to use the skills and tools they already know to unlock new insights with minimal effort and no outside resources.”
Splice Machine’s hybrid RDBMS connects the numerous data sources available to healthcare organizations into both their data repositories and analytics tools, which can range from traditional Excel and Tableau BI tools to real-time streaming analysis applications like Spark Streaming and Kafka, as well as machine learning and artificial intelligence tools like Spark MLib and TensorFlow.
“We’re excited to work with Clearsense to help them leverage data analytics to optimize outcomes and streamline operations for some of the top healthcare organizations in the country,” stated Krishnan Parasuraman, Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Splice Machine. “Clearsense and Splice Machine share a similar vision for the future of healthcare, and believe that leveraging real-time data analytics will be the key to a healthier population.”
The partnership will kick off with the onboarding of Clearsense client, Meharry Medical College and its Data Science Center (DSC). The DSC combines over 25 data sources from within Meharry’s Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Graduate Studies and Research, as well as clinical data from outpatient faculty practices of Meharry and Nashville General Hospital. The DSC also brings together data from other biorepositories and genomic data so that Meharry staff and faculty can apply analytics and machine learning to critical issues, such as health inequity in the region it serves.
“A data ecosystem built with Splice Machine and Clearsense’s Inception will open an entirely new set of capabilities for our research, clinical operations and teaching departments,” said Amy M. Andrade, MS, Senior Advisor to the President on Technology and Innovation and Assistant Vice President for Research at Meharry Medical College. “The ability to better process the vast amount of data we collect will help the College improve its curricula by integrating Big Data within various medical disciplines and better applying analytic techniques to the problem of health inequity.”
